Trying Something New

Fingers Typing

Well, I have finally joined the 20th century by starting a blog.  Maybe I’ll eventually join the 21st century by getting a Twitter account, but let’s not go crazy.

I am notorious for becoming obsessed with things like this for about two to four weeks and then never coming back, so we’ll see how long this lasts.  I apologize to anyone who starts following me, falls madly in love with my posts, only to discover that I have abandoned you so soon after our blogging romance has begun.  Hopefully I’ll be inspired to add something new at least once a month.  I think that should be well within my short attention span limitations.

Here are my reasons for embarking on this new digital journey.  I am performing a cabaret to celebrate my upcoming 40th birthday.  It will be video recorded, and I am planning on posting it on YouTube so that my friends and family who were unable to attend can view at their leisure.  I decided it would be even better if I had my own website to showcase said video.  So I decided to get an account through WordPress.  That way people can just look me up online, click on the video link, and — voilà! — I am singing my guts out just for you.

Once the decision was made, I started thinking about other ways to use the site.  I always have random thoughts rummaging around in my head — as I’m sure all of you do, too, which is why we all have blogs, right? — so why not add my opinions to the millions already out there on the Web?  Kind of like a free therapy session!

Also, I am a bit of a crafter, so this will be an ideal place to share what I’ve created with all of you.  I am by no means a pro, but I’ve got some basic skills.

That’s it for now.  I look forward to seeing how this all turns out.
